It all started in 1964...well...actually a little bit before that... but you really don't want to know about that.... Born, raised and educated in the Netherlands, I came to enjoy the Kiwi lifestyle in 1994.
As a specialist wedding photographer I guess you could say that I have one of those "dream" jobs, taking photos of people, their laughs, happiness and love. With a background in photo journalism and editorial / fashion photography I have worked at the forefront of wedding photography in New Zealand for the past 14 years. Despite the huge advances in digital technology I believe I'm very much a purist at heart. Even if I don't like your mother-in-law, I would hate to take her out of the picture just because I can. Photography should be more than just the sum of light, CCD and computer skills. It should be able to move people...
Wedding photography should go beyond the mere sum of light, camera-gear and computer skills. It should be able to move people...
At the NZIPP-IRIS Awards 2006, Rob was awarded the 'Master of Photography' qualification by the NZIPP for the high calibre of his imagery. 2007 was another big year with 9 NZIPP/IRIS awards and in 2008 Rob stepped it up again by achieving 9 NZIPP/IRIS awards, plus becoming a finalist in the landscape and wedding album of the year categories. In 2009 (it's getting boring now) Rob was awarded "Master of Photography" for the fourth time in four years. At the same time Rob's work is also recognised and appreciated at the other end of the world with 22 Gold awards at the SWPP/BPPA Awards in England. January 2010 saw one of Rob's bridal portraits being judged highest scoring print (three equal) in the UK.
What others say...
WOW!!! The photos and the album are incredible!!
Thank you for helping to make the day so relaxed, we both really enjoyed the
time spent with you having our photos taken, and you made it easy for Alex
too - it was loads of fun - and the photos are stunning.
I really felt that you captured and summarized our day so well in the album, it is something that will be cherished for a long, long time!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!. Rochelle and Kevin, Wellington, 15 February 2008.
" It's Joy and Alan from New York City just trolling through memory lane here. In April 2005, you photographed our wedding in Arrowtown, and, almost three years later, we still get a thrill at looking at your images of our day! You captured our fantastic wedding and our needs perfectly. Your photographic vision combined with your unique graphic design wows and surprises even our jaded New York City chums who have literally seen it all - your work and the memories they preserve are priceless. Joy and Alan, Arrowtown, 2 April 2005.
Lee and I would like to take this opportunity
to say a huge thank you for taking the most amazing photos of our special
day. We couldn't have ask for a more talented photographer. We appreciate
the communication you had with us to organise our wedding photography while
living in London. It has been unbelievable how many comments we have had back
about our wedding photos you posted on-line, everyone absolutely loves the
one of us in the rain on the street under the white umbrella! We guess it
was lucky that it rained nearly the whole day after all. Your incredible talent
and outstanding eye for photos in this weather condition definitely created
the Wow factor. Again, thank you for being part of our special day and we
look forward to enjoying our wedding photos for years to come. Mel and Lee,
Wellington, 20 December 2008.
